Pleating
Currently seeking a skilled individual for entry level Assistant Pleater position.
Responsibilities include-
This position assists the pleaters by doing various tasks to expedite the production process. Successful understanding of the assistant position leads to opportunity in positions of Mold Pleater and/or Machine Pleater.
Mold Pleater- A pleater is an artisan that pleats fabric with the use of molds. Molds are made in a variety of styes and sizes. There are many skills required to “work the molds” in order to pleat fabric. The most significant being hand eye coordination, both in the ability to properly spread fabric and in the opening and closing of molds. Additional skills utilized are pressing, understanding of garment construction, fabric types, grain lines and geometry.
Machine Pleater- A pleater is an artisan that pleats fabric with the use of specialized machinery. The true skills required to be successful at this post is to be able to control the direction and grain of the fabric with your hands. Additionally, maintaining and adjusting the machines to the specific characteristics of the fabric you are working on. The most successful machine pleaters have a strong understanding of machinery and strong hand eye coordination.
Qualifications- One should enjoy precision work with hands and posses keen hand eye coordination. Candidate must be physically capable of lifting rolls of fabric 20lbs+ over head.
The role involves collaborating across teams, supporting the production process, and contributing to a legacy of quality and craftsmanship.
Hours: 40 per week
Starting wage: $16/hour
